QES availability and current limitations
Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) works with a range of Signable signing journeys, but there are a few current limits to be aware of before you get started.
Where can't I use QES?
QES isn't currently available with:
- Bulk Send.
- Signable widgets or embedded signing widgets.
- The HubSpot integration.
If you're setting up an automated workflow, check how you're sending your Envelopes before adding QES.
How many documents can a QES signer sign?
A QES signer can sign a maximum of 20 documents in one Envelope.
For the sake of clarity, when we refer to a 'document' we are referring to an individual file - be it .doc, PDF or .xls, each individual file or template used within an envelope is considered one document.
This limit applies to each QES signer individually, rather than to the total number of documents in the Envelope.
Can I use different signing types in the same Envelope?
Yes. An Envelope can include a mix of Simple Electronic Signature (SES), Advanced Electronic Signature (AES), and Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).
Only signers assigned a QES field need to complete the additional identity verification and confirm their signature through the Evrotrust app.
Everyone else can complete their usual signing steps.
Can I use QES with a signing order?
Yes. QES can be used when your Envelope has a signing order.
Each signer receives and completes the Envelope when it’s their turn, as usual. Once all signers have finished signing, the QES stage begins.
Any signer who needs to use QES will then receive a separate invitation from Signable to verify their identity and apply their QES. Once all required QES signers have completed this stage, the Envelope can be completed.
Can I use QES through the Signable API?
Yes. You can send Envelopes requiring QES through the Signable Application Programming Interface (API).
If you're building QES into your workflow, take a look at our developer documentation for the required QES fields and information about QES credits.
Still need help?
If you're having trouble setting up or completing QES, contact Signable Support and we'll help you with how the product works.
If you're unsure whether your document legally requires QES, speak to your legal adviser or the organisation requesting the signature. Signable can't advise on the legal requirements for a particular document.
