An FAQ on Upgrading & Overages

Close to hitting your limit? Foreseeing a busy quarter? Or perhaps you're just plain curious? Never fear, we've got a couple of options for you when it comes to expanding your envelopes!


Upgrading


If subscribed to a Monthly or Annual subscription with us, you always have the option to upgrade your plan midway through its current billing cycle. What does that mean? Glad you asked!


With Signable you can simply move up to a higher tier of subscription for a discounted cost - paying only for the days you have left on your current term. This gives you an immediate top-up of envelopes, without having to pay for the full subscription amount - talk about cheap and cheerful!



What do you mean by ‘discounted cost’?

When you upgrade with Signable, the fee to increase your subscription is subject to proration. This means that, if you have 6 days left remaining of your subscription, you will pay a fee which covers only those 6 days - which is a tonne more cost effective to upgrade! 

You actually see a full breakdown of your pro-rated upgrade fee within your Signable account! In the Subscriptions and Billing section, simply select to ‘Switch’ next to the increased plan and review the charges, example below:

Will my new envelope allowance carry over, after I renew? 

No, unused envelopes from your topped up allowance will not roll over upon renewal - you have only paid to upgrade for the remaining days left of your previous billing cycle. But, you can flexibly move up and down plans as your business needs - either on a Monthly or Annual basis! 



Will I return to my original plan automatically?

No, your subscription will remain on the same, increased level if you do not schedule a downgrade!  


If you would only like to upgrade temporarily, and downgrade to your original plan upon your renewal - you will need to ensure that you click ‘Switch’ on the plan of your choice within Subscription and Billing prior to your renewal date.


Overages


Your alternative is to utilise our emergency envelope feature, Overages! This is a great way to send out a few envelopes past your limit, when you are a day or two away from your reset date. 



How much are Overages? 

Overages are charged monthly at a rate of £1.50 + VAT per envelope sent outside your allowance. They are not activated automatically, and need to be enabled via your Subscriptions and Billing page within Signable.



Why wouldn’t I just use Overages, rather than upgrading? 

The decision you make will likely be influenced by one main thing - the number of envelopes you foresee using in the remainder of your billing period. If you think you will utilise five envelopes at £1.50 + VAT before your renewal date, and your upgrade fee is £100 + VAT - you are better off using overages! 


However, if you are more than one week from your renewal date and anticipate high levels of sending - it’s always better to check the upgrade fee in your Billing page. And of course, if there's ever any confusion, give us a shout, we're here to help!

  • If you pay for an Annual subscription by bank transfer (on Large and above plans) then you will not have the options to utilise Overages - because we need a transactional payment method to charge each month! If you are nearing your limit and are a Bank transfer customer, please get in touch with your Account Manager to discuss options for increase.
